With the Passing of Time

\RAM-shak-ul\ | adjective

1 : appearing ready to collapse : rickety
2 : carelessly or loosely constructed

The first is Ramshackle Enterprises. “Enterprises” is a very grand word for a company that “makes puppets, masks, parades, pageants, outdoor spectacles, indoor installations, suitcase theater, piñatas and other strange things.” The first time I saw the site the default picture was creepy as all get out. The next one wasn’t too bad. I make a little fun but it’s great to see someone turning something they clearly love into a business. I hope she’s successful with it. I’m sure kids really enjoy her work.

I find the first picture fascinating on so many levels.

I can’t help but imagine living in that place and am dying to know what it looks like inside. I picture the resident going about town on the seatless bicycle, sometimes connecting that green cart thing to the back wheel when they needed supplies.

But please click through and check it out. The site is a description of someone’s trip to Denmark. So of course I instantly go to Mr. Renaissance Man himself; can’t help it and I don’t even try to stop it. :-) The picture is from the second batch of pics (about halfway down the page). The caption reads “One of many ramshackle homes of Christiania.” You must read the description of Christiania, as it is “considered a free town. … The inhabitants of Christiania do not pay any taxes on any property on the island, and do not actually own the buildings in which they live.” And there’s a bit about how it’s the only place where open marijuana use is acceptable.
