Toughen up, they told him. Sticks and stones and all that jazz. But they didn’t have to live with constant torment. With never-ending assaults and harassment. The daily reminder of their unimportance, worthlessness.

But why don’t the teachers and parents stop them? Why did they encourage them?

It was his fault, they told him. He was so useless, how could the other students resist making his life a living hell? Grow up and be a man.

There was only way out. But he didn’t have to go alone. And before he died he would see their blood in the halls.
